Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photographer and journalist who has been covering wars, natural disasters over the past 45 years. Her focus is on the plights of those in these areas. Curry has reported from the conflict zones of Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry (born on November 19, 1956 in the city of Agana) is an American television reporter, anchor as well as a journalist. She was most famous for her work as a reporter on the Today Show, a morning newscast produced by the National Broadcasting Co. Curry is well-known for her reporting of catastrophes caused by natural or human causes which are particularly prevalent in countries who have been ravaged by war. Curry's father was a naval officer within the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. After World War II, her parents had a meeting when their father was in Japan. Curry graduated in 1978 with the degree of Bachelor's in Journalism at the University of Oregon. Curry was not able to go to a single school for in more than two years since her family frequently moved. She attended schools in Alameda, San Diego and Virginia. Ashland was her final high school. In her time as an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon she was able to lay the foundation to build a successful and long-lasting radio career. She became the first female reporter on the station's history at age 22. Then she was promoted to the position of anchor and reporter for KGW an NBC affiliate located in Portland, Oregan. A few years later, she moved back to Los Angeles as a reporter for KCBS-TV. It was during her association with the station for six years that she received the two Emmy Awards.
